    March 13, 2021 /

The storied Larch Valley Trail is the signature larch hike of the Canadian Rockies and with good reason. Snow dusted mountain peaks and golden yellow larches make for one of the most beautiful hiking experiences on the planet. It gets crowded during peak season, but it's worth braving the crowds to hike this iconic trail. Here are some tips for how to hike Banff's most popular trail in peak season.

Heart Mountain Hike – Big Adventure Near Canmore

    April 25, 2020 /

On the Heart Mountain hike near Canmore, an ordinary human can summit up to three mountains in a single day. That’s something worth bragging about, but in all honesty that wasn’t my main motivation for doing it. My son, Brady suggested we do the hike as a family, and I couldn’t resist. I always try to say yes whenever my children ask if I’d like to do something with them. Hiking adventures are better when you share them with people you love. Bragging rights from the Heart Mountain hike were just a bonus. There are affiliate links in this post. If you make a qualifying purchase through one of these…

    Hiking to Troll Falls

    August 27, 2018 /

Troll Falls is one of the quick and easy Kananaskis hikes that has a stunning payoff. Not far from Kananaskis Village in Alberta, Canada, this hike is only 3.4 km round-trip with basically no elevation change – something that’s hard to find in the Canadian Rockies. The hike can be completed in 1 to 2 hours and has a rewarding view of a stunning waterfall at the end! There are affiliate links in this post. Siffleur Falls and Meadow Hike

    August 8, 2018 /

Siffleur Falls is a fun, family friendly hike located in Alberta in the Canadian Rockies with a low difficulty rating and rewarding views. The round trip hike is about 8 km long but there is only about 150 m elevation gain. The lack of elevation change and wide path makes for an easy and rewarding hike with great views.
