There’s a special kind of magic to be found in the pristine stillness that permeates the largest and wildest of Canada’s Rocky Mountain parks in winter.  Snow-covered mountain peaks, frozen waterfalls and lightly dusted forests make Jasper National Park a winter wonderland if ever there was one. The landscape begs to be explored and photographed. Here are twelve of our favorite photos of Jasper in winter.

It’s fun to venture out on the extensive trail system in Jasper. From snowshoeing to cross-country skiing to fat biking, there are trails for every ability and interest.

Here are the stats on Jasper’s ski resort: Marmot Basin has 91 named runs on four mountain faces with 3,000 vertical feet of drop. The area has a lift capacity of close to 12,000 skiers per hour on seven lifts, but it never seems to reach capacity. There’s lots of light airy powder for everyone.

Scenery in Jasper in Winter

Jasper National Park is one of the largest and wildest of Canada’s national parks and it is particularly beautiful when it’s blanketed in fluffy snow.

Where to Stay in Jasper

Our favorite place to stay in Jasper is the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge. It’s outside the downtown area, but it has amazing restaurants and amenities. If you want something in the downtown area, we like The Crimson.
